Milk Jug Jack-O-Lantern

Materials:

1. a plastic gallon milk jug
2. pencil, pen or marker
3. orange acrylic paint (or orange tempera paint with white glue mixed in)
4. Paint brushes or sponges
5. Black paint or a large black magic marker
6. small flashlight
7. tacky glue (or a hot glue gun with adult supervision)
8. scissors (or an x-acto knife with adult supervision)

Directions:

1. Decide what kind of face you want your jack-o-lantern to have.
2. Draw the face on the milk jug.
3. Carefully cut out the eyes, nose, and mouth out of the milk jug.
4. Children can paint the jug with paint and sponges. You may need more than one coat of paint.
5. Let the paint dry.
6. Let children draw on the pumpkin's face with black marker.
7. Glue a small flashlight to the inside of the milk jug lid.
8. Turn on the flashlight and place the lid on the jug.
