Newspaper Hats

Materials:

1. scissors
2. glue, paste, or masking tape
3. newspaper
4. scrap materials, such as ribbon (optional)
5. stickers (optional)

Directions:

1. Fold a newspaper sheet in half.
2. (Fold in quarters for a smaller hat!)
3. Help children fold the corners on the top (the closed end of the fold) into the middle to make triangles.
4. Help them fold the bottom ends of the folded paper about 1-2 inches, one end each way to make the brim.
5. Encourage children to decorate their hats with scrap materials.
6. Newspaper hats can be worn forward, backwards or sideways.
