Ocean in a Bottle

Materials:

1. clean, clear plastic bottle with a cap
2. water
3. cooking oil, baby oil, or mineral oil
4. blue food coloring
5. decorations, such as beads, shells, glitter, plastic fish, or coins (optional)
6. electrical tape (optional)

Directions:

1. Remove the label from the bottle.
2. Fill the bottle halfway with water.
3. Put 3-4 drops of blue food coloring in the water.
4. Put the cap on and shake the bottle to mix the food coloring into the water.
5. Take the cap off. Add shells, fish or other decorations if you wish.
6. Fill the bottle almost to the top with oil. Leave a little space at the top.
7. Put the cap on. If desired, wrap the lid with electrical tape to prevent it from opening.
8. Rock the bottle slowly from left to right.
9. It looks like waves in an ocean!
