Apple Cider (or Juice) Slush
Makes (homes):
4 cups
or 5 (3/4 cup) portions for ages 6+ at snack
or 8 (1/2 cup) portions for ages 1-5 at snack
Makes (centers):
20 cups
or 26 (3/4 cup) portions for ages 6+ at snack
or 40 (1/2 cup) portions for ages 1-5 at snack
Ingredients (homes):
- 1 quart Apple Juice
- 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon Cloves, ground
Ingredients (centers):
- 1 gallon + 1 quart Apple Juice
- 2 1/2 teaspoons Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon + 1/8 teaspoon Cloves, ground
Directions:
- Pour half of the apple cider into ice cube trays. Freeze.
- Puree ice cubes, spices, and remaining juice in a blender/food processor.
- Tip: Serve with graham crackers or pumpkin muffins for a complete snack.
Serve:
"Apple Cider Slush" counts as 100% fruit juice; fruit juice can be claimed ONE time per day at your facility.
Serve 1/2 cup to each 1-5 year old at snack to count as a fruit serving.
Serve 3/4 cup to each 6+ year old at snack to count as a fruit serving.
