Garlic Cheese Biscuits

Ingredients (homes):

  • 500 g Self-Rising Flour, enriched (about 4 cups)
  • 102 g Vegetable Shortening (about 1/2 cup)
  • 328 g Milk or Water (about 1 1/3 cups)
  • 4 ounces Cheddar Cheese, shredded (about 1 cup)
  • 1/2 stick Margarine or Butter, melted (about 1/4 cup)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder

Ingredients (centers):

  • 1000 g Self-Rising Flour, enriched (about 8 cups)
  • 204 g Vegetable Shortening (about 1 cup)
  • 656 g Milk or Water (about 2 2/3 cups)
  • 8 ounces Cheddar Cheese, shredded (about 2 cups)
  • 1 stick Margarine or Butter, melted (about 1/2 cup)
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder

Directions:

  1. Put flour, shortening, milk and cheese in a bowl. Lightly beat with a mixer.
  2. Use 1/8 cup scoop (#32) to drop dough onto ungreased sheet pan(s).
  3. Bake at 450 degrees F for 10 minutes. Remove from oven.
  4. Mix melted margarine/butter and garlic powder. Brush tops of biscuits.

Serve:

1 biscuit counts as 1/2 oz. eq. grain.
Serve 1 biscuit to each 1-5 year old.
Serve 2 biscuits to each child ages 6+.
